
Evergreen Yoga Center’s carefully-planned progression of class levels ensures that students learn the basics needed for success at each level. Our class-sizes are such that the teacher can give each student her best possible attention. Your yoga practice evolves over time as you gain experience, confidence and personal insight with each class and each series.

Pay-What-You-Can Classes are provided so that everyone who wants to can experience yoga at Evergreen. For these classes, there will be a basket at the desk. Just drop in whatever amount you can afford to pay for the class. Most pay-what-you-can classes meet Monday evenings at 5pm.
| Introductory For students who are new to Iyengar yoga, including those who may have some experience with other forms of yoga. Students build confidence in the standing poses and learn basic yoga concepts including active relaxation. The correct use of yoga props (blocks, belts, blankets, bolsters) is introduced to help students get the most from their practice. Wear clothing to class that enables you to see your knees. | Level 1 Standing poses are emphasized and basic inverted poses are introduced. Emphasis is on building confidence and steadiness in the poses. Students will explore the mechanics of forward bending and back extension and will learn additional skills to aid relaxation. Most students can expect to repeat the Level 1 series before moving to Level 2. Wear clothing to class that enables you to see your knees. View schedule |
| Level 2 For students who have practiced Iyengar yoga for at least six months. We will continue forward with standing poses, forward bending, back extension and shoulderstand (sarvangasana). Headstand (sirsasana) is introduced as well as restorative practices. Students need to have had a very consistent alignment-based practice in order to attend Level 2 classes and higher. Men's Class Open to all men. No yoga experience necessary. You will learn the basics of Iyengar Yoga, with an emphasis on hamstrings and shoulders. Wear clothing to class that enables you to see your knees. View schedule |
