Guide to Levels

Introductory

For students who are new to alignment-based yoga, including those who may have some experience with other forms of yoga. The correct use of yoga props (blocks, belts, blankets, bolsters) is introduced to help students get the most from their practice. View schedule

Level 1

Standing poses are emphasized and basic inverted poses are introduced. Emphasis is on building confidence and steadiness in the poses. Students will explore the mechanics of forward bending and back extension and will learn additional skills to aid relaxation. Most students can expect to repeat the Level 1 series before moving to Level 2. View schedule

Level 2

Level 1 Flow (Vinyasa)

For students who are newer to yoga. Proper alignment is emphasized; the poses are linked together to create a flowing sequence. Basic poses are explained (standing poses, sun salutations, etc.). You will also learn skills to aid relaxation. Most students can expect to repeat the Level 1 series before moving to Level 2.

For women

If you are pregnant: Yoga can help you and your baby have a happier and healthier pregnancy. It is particularly important to take special care in your yoga practice. Please be sure to discuss your pregnancy with your teacher from the very beginning. And plan to attend the Pre-Natal Series of Classes.

When you are menstruating: This is a great time to practice yoga. Some poses will be better for you than others, and there are several recommended poses to help you feel better. Likewise, it is suggested that you avoid inversions and abdominal poses when you are having your period. Let the teacher know so she can help you make healthy choices for your practice.
